Hodes NY softball team makes playoffs for first time in 6 years

This year, our New York office had a great turnout for its softball team--the Hodes Bombers. The group met weekly at baseball parks around the city to play other company teams, and ended the season with a 6-wins, 9-losses record.

Under the careful coaching of Lou Bridda, senior account executive, our softball team was proud to make the playoffs as a wild card--an achievement that hadn't happened for 6 years. While it was no Red Sox curse, our inability to reach the playoffs had certainly been a thorn in our side. The team celebrated their victory with pats on the back all around and a cool beverage at the local watering hole.

The rally cry

On the day of the last game, Lou Bridda got everyone pumped up with his poem:

Ok folks, the time is near, our last game to play softball, so get out your gear

One last time to hit, to throw and to run, one last night to have some good softball fun

Let's break out the bats, because we'll need lots of runs, and let's keep Gotham's scoreboard full of round nones

The last game of the season, let's show them what's up, and then go out as the champs of tonight's flip-cup

Chris B. is driving, he can fit another two, because he's already taking Ellen and Coach Lou

The rest of the team will have to take the bus, which in my opinion is a big plus

We'll need each and every one of us to give it their all, because we won't be at full strength when we go out to play ball

Lowell's in college and Manny is gone, Carl can't make the field, perhaps the party later on?

I want everyone ready at 5:05, not past, because sometimes that bus gets here really fast

We'll have plenty of team spirit, our reputation precedes us, we don't need this league, but this league needs us!

I want everyone laughing and having some fun, it's our one last game, then the season is done.
