ASHHRA 2005 - Stepping Up to the Challenge

Overview

The ASHHRA (American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration) 41st Annual Conference and Exposition was held in Orlando, Florida. With a theme of "Stepping Up to the Challenge", this comprehensive, three-day event challenged health care HR professionals to grow both personally and professionally, while talking about the new role of HR leadership in health care.

As always, the conference provided attendees with the chance to hear from top-notch keynote speakers, advance their HR skills, view exhibits from over 150 vendors, and participate in learning sessions and a roundtable discussion. And, of course, networking with colleagues was encouraged by means of a variety of social events, including a glow-in-the-dark golf tournament.

The booth

Our Health Care team played a major role in the conference. Our new booth drew large crowds, particularly for our touch poll survey, "Checking the Pulse of Health Care Recruiting". This survey of attendees sought to learn what recruitment challenges most impact HR professionals. Those who took the survey received a special ASHHRA T-shirt and were entered in a drawing for a $500 American Express gift certificate.

Congratulations to Sue, AVP Talent Acquisition of North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, who was the lucky winner of the gift certificate.

The dinner

In addition to exhibiting at the conference, we hosted a dinner at the Fulton Crab House on the 18th. The dinner was a roaring success, with a good time had by all 40 people who came out to join us. Thanks go out to Sherry Jacobson's office out of Hodes New York for sponsoring this great event.
