Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina, San Diego, CA
July 5-9
Overview
The NAHCR (National Association for Health Care Recruitment) 2005 annual conference, "Image 2005: Waves of Opportunity," was held in San Diego, CA, and celebrated the organization's 31st anniversary.
A true learning and networking experience, this vital conference provided workshops and vendor exhibits, as well as sessions on such topics as men in nursing, emotional intelligence, health care recruiter competencies and employers of choice retention strategies. In addition, keynote speakers inspired the attendees with presentations on having a life balance that works and what's right with health care.
There were also plenty of opportunities for all attendees to connect with their peers. Networking and social events included receptions, an awards banquet, and a round table discussion and open forum.
Hodes Participation
The event
At Hodes, the NAHCR conference always means the opportunity to throw a great party. This year, our annual party took place on the 9th and featured a beach theme, which fit right in with the hotel's tropical location. This event was definitely a huge success and brought out the inner beach bum in all who attended.
The speakers
Sandy Haeberle, svp, Hodes Health Care Division, spoke about health care recruiter competencies in a concurrent session on July 9th. This nuts and bolts session for analyzing recruiter outcomes was well attended and resulted in many positive comments about the importance of its subject matter.
Margie Kasse, vp, Hodes Health Care Division, also presented a concurrent session on July 9th, in partnership with Wendy Hauptli, RN, director, Physician Services, Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center. In their session, Margie and Wendy shared information about the fourth annual Youth Day event and the importance of using valuable resources to have a citywide event for careers in health care.
