NSNA Board of Directors Dinner

Scaletta, New York, NY
June 16

Overview

The NSNA (National Student Nurses' Association) is a membership organization that represents 45,000 nursing students preparing for their initial RN licensure, as well as RNs in BSN completion programs. In addition to mentoring these students, the NSNA focuses on conveying standards and ethics for nursing, promoting skill development, and advocating for high quality health care and advances in nursing education.

Their annual Board of Directors dinner took place on June 16th at the Scaletta restaurant in New York, NY. Part of the purpose of this dinner was to honor those people who contributed to the Association in 2004 and the Breakthrough to Nursing program's 40th anniversary.

The Breakthrough to Nursing (BTN) program was established in 1965. It seeks to increase participation in nursing careers, with an emphasis on the diverse candidate.

At the dinner, Karen Hart, senior vice president of the Hodes Health Care Division, was presented with a special award. This award was given in recognition of the work Hodes did for the Association in 2004. Our projects included designing the logo for the BTN 40th anniversary, and creating and managing a faculty survey and a student survey centered around the impediments diverse candidates face in seeking nursing careers.
