Youth Day 2005: Healthcare Careers for Life

Conceived by Margie Kasse, vp, Hodes Health Care Division, sponsored by the Arizona Healthcare Recruiters Network, and co-sponsored by Maricopa Community Colleges in 2005, Youth Day: Healthcare Careers for Life is an event aimed at raising awareness of health care careers among youths of all ages. The all-volunteer event features speakers, health-related games, and booths from schools offering health care programs.
Now in its fourth year, this annual event is still going strong. This year, we saw more families and high school students attend, and raised our scholarship donations to an impressive $9,300, bringing us to a total of approximately $40,000 in scholarship donations over the past four years. Our outdoor entertainment included a DJ and attendees also enjoyed a number of interactive games, including You've Got Guts, Bloody Mess, Name that Organ and Fear Factor.

At the National Association for Health Care Recruitment's annual conference in San Diego, on July 9th, 2005, Margie Kasse and Wendy Hauptli presented a concurrent session on Youth Day.
