2004 National Metrics Survey
Get the data you need to benchmark your organization
This online survey, which ran from July to November 2004, asked health care recruiters across the country to answer short answer and fill-in questions on cost-per-hire, days-to-fill, vacancy and turnover rates, hardest-to-fill positions, and recruitment tactic success.
These important results not only provide a source of national health care recruitment metrics, they also offer a continuation of the vital benchmarks of recruitment performance established in our 2003 version of the survey.
Among the most interesting results this year was a shifting from employee referral programs to student clinical rotations as the best recruitment method for both RN and Allied Health positions.
Other results of note include the change from RNs to Occupational Therapists as the position with the highest national turnover rate, and the switch from OTs to RNs as the position with the highest vacancy rate last year.
In addition, health care recruiters reported Pharmacists, PTs and SLAs as the most difficult to fill positions in allied health, and Critical Care/ER, Oncology, OR/PACU and Med/Surg as the hardest to fill RN positions.
Congratulations to Ann Skinner from UCSD, who was our survey participation winner and received a $500 Marriott hotel gift certificate.
