Examining the aging nurse workforce: trends, metrics and testimonials on the future of recruitment and retention
Conducted in partnership with Nursing Management, we hosted an in-depth look into the aging of the current nursing workforce. Almost 1000 responses later, we uncovered a broad picture of the nursing population today, and the impact aging and the burgeoning wave of retiring nurses will have on the health care industry in the near future.
The results were staggering. One of the many key metrics we discovered was that 55% of respondents plan on retiring between 2011 and 2020, along with an exodus of their nurse employees.
To achieve this groundbreaking survey, we compiled data from both Magnet versus Non-Magnet hospital respondents, asking them about the topics health care recruiters and HR managers need to know most:
- industry demographics and anticipated retirement trends
- best recruitment and retention strategies for older employees
- overview of successful benefits and support practices
- suggestions on work improvements and enhancements
